"We strive to reach our generation for Christ by leading them through music to worship," said Dave Moore, who ministers throughout the Diocese of Corpus Christi, songwriter and leader of The Glory Estate band. Moore is forthright in his expression of the deep spiritual aspects of the band, its work and its music. The group consisting of five young musicians has just produced an album entitled "Fading into the Light."
The album features Moore on the acoustic guitar and lead vocalist, Charles Longoria on electric guitar, Dustin Ramirez on drums/percussion, Ryan Schmann brass and Lauren Rader vocalist.
Moore wrote the songs primarily, though several are collaborative efforts with band members Ramirez, Longoria, and Rader. Others songwriters were Heath Garcia, and Paul Baloche.
The production of the praise and worship album is as remarkable as the music it records. The young people though relatively unknown in the music world managed to impress the right people and ended up recording their music with a lot of help from a host of well-known names of the music industry. The album was recorded at Pedernales Recording Studio, which is the private studio of famous country singer, Willie Nelson.
In addition other well-known industry people came forward to help. Dylan Ely of Movement Music produced, mixed and recorded. He has produced albums for well-known personalities such as Jenifer Lopez and others. Ted Jensen at Sterling Sound mastered it. Jenson has mastered albums for the Eagles and the Beatles. The strings were recorded at The Studio in Philadelphia. These were done by eleven hand picked Julliard students playing arrangements by Larry Gold who also arranges for Celine Dion and does movie sound tracks. Bob Segar of "Linkin Park" was also on hand and contributed his talents to the project.
Moore feels that involvement of all of these people and the way things came together is simply the Lord's work. "I couldn't have done it by myself," says the soft-spoken 20-year-old with a smile. He writes on the album's insert "How is that five kids from the small city of Corpus Christi, Texas would be able to independently work with the people we have been able to work with. I stand by the quote," God doesn't always call the equipped rather He equips the called."
The band's spiritual advisor, Fr Samuel Medley, SOLT, speaks of their mission and their music, "As their name signifies, ‘The Glory Estate,' has a unique mission of revealing the glory of God, and bringing all men to enter into God's glorious praise through music. In this way they have a ministry like the holy angels, who help us bring praise, honor, and glory to the Most Holy Trinity through their hymns and canticles.
Although each of the musicians manifest excellent musical technique and talent, their deepest desire is also like the angels, to be invisible so that a person who listens to their music or goes to their concert may not so much be impressed or enamored with them, but the God to whom they worship in musical adoration.
In a special way, the young are particularly attracted not only to good music and not only to good Christian "rock" music, but also to the magnanimous ideals that they embody. The young, sensitive to an authentic and true Christian witness that is devoid of hypocrisy or insincerity, are attracted to the attitude that glorifies God, shows real humility, and exhibits the down-to-earth style in which Glory Estate presents itself at concerts. At a concert one hears Dave Moore praying in between the songs, presenting himself before the Lord as a sinner who struggles find God in daily life and accept his mercy and forgiveness. How can a young teenage heart seeking to love and be loved not be attracted to this message, especially when awesome guitar rifts, brilliant transitions between chorus and verse, accompany it and an excellently mastered digitally mixed CD recording?
The group makes frequent appearances at local events, gives concerts at churches (both Catholic and protestant); they travel across Texas and the United States playing for people young and old. They frequently appear at Fullness of Truth conferences throughout the state. The CD is available at the Catholic Shoppe and other outlets.
