While Bishop Wm. Michael Mulvey has not called for a synod during the centennial year of the Diocese of Corpus Christi, meetings and celebrations will be held with different groups within the diocese in which the bishop will listen to the needs and the wisdom they bring in order to develop a “Pastoral Plan” that will frame and guide efforts for the New Evangelization.

While the first bishop of Corpus Christi used his ad limina visit with the pope to offer his resignation, Bishop Wm. Michael Mulvey just returned from his visit with the Holy Father where he updated Pope Benedict XVI on the condition of the Church in the Diocese of Corpus Christi and his plans for its continued growth in faith.

When he was ordained a bishop on May 20, 1913 to shepherd the newly erected Diocese of Corpus Christi, Father Paul Joseph Nussbaum, CP, was only 42 years old. He was a young and energetic bishop to serve a young and growing diocese during some very challenging years that rapidly aged him.
